Wondering whether microwaving dal in my coffee mug will make it taste like coffee, and other things I am cluttering my mind with

Well, it is 2008. Yea. So. I do want to make 2008 a more productive year, though 2007 wasn't so bad on the personal stage; obviously, on the global stage 2007 saw a doozy of travesties. But, the personal/professional stage is the one I would like to currently occupy (the global one is enough to make me want to crawl into a foxhole and wait for the world to end, which I am feeling would not be a long wait.) Anyhoo, it is off to a decent start, as one of my photos will be in the Lack of Desire show at the Brooklyn Arts Council Gallery and I have a pending fellowship application. Also, I joined PhotoShelter, which at least one of you knows is a sort of alternative, creative stock photo agency, so I am looking forward to doing that. However, I cannot seem to keep my head in the game. I have a "plan" as it were, but that plan involves me sticking around in NY for another year and applying to grad school for the Fall of 2009. So, the interim time is to be spend working on my portfolio, improving my writing, applying for group shows, and trying to get short residencies and/or local fellowships. But, somehow I cannot manage to block out what the French would call the bullshit. Feel me?
Happy New Year,
Me
